The Damascus Soccer Club (DSC) offers competitive soccer in premier local travel leagues and the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge of the game through the Club's excellent youth development program. Players enjoy the benefits of expert training and coaching to play premier select/travel soccer. DSC provides a fun, positive and committed environment for our young players to learn and enjoy soccer year-round from some of the best coaches available.

U-16 Girls Premier, DSC Sparks

The rising U16 Damascus Sparks are looking for 4 highly skilled and motivated players with possible aspirations to play in college. The Sparks, a highly successful tournament team coached by Steve Knapman, played WAGS High School Div. 1 this past spring. The team runs a year round program consisting of spring WAGS league play, winter outdoor practice and games, and multiple tournaments throughout the year. Tryout dates are 6/29, 7/6, 7/20 from 6-7:30pm at Ovid Hazen Wells Park/Clarksburg.

U10 Boys Premier - DSC United

DSC United (8-1-01) will play this winter at Champions and this spring in NCSL. We run a year round program including fall and spring outdoor soccer, a winter indoor session, and players are eligible to participate in specialized speed/agility/injury prevention training, and friendlies. We provide a fun and challenging environment that stresses long term skill development while employing the 'guided discovery' approach towards learning the game. United are coached and trained by Dave Kovack (USSF C License, USSF National Youth, English FA Psychology course, and many others), long-time DSC board member, and DSC Director of Coaching, Rene SanMartin (USSF C License), and Dan Kovack (USSF D License).

United are still looking for a few players and we have an open invitation for anyone interested in trying out to attend any of our practices. For the winter, we are practicing on Saturdays at 5:30 at Lake Marion Community Center in Montgomery Village (East Village Ave). U12 Girls Premier - DSC Sparks 99

The Damascus Sparks 99, rising U-12 Girls (Birthdates 08/01/1999 to 07/31/2000) will be holding try-outs for skilled and dedicated players. Try-outs are currently scheduled for Wednesday, June 1, Monday, June 6 & Wednesday, June 8. All try-outs will be held at Ovid Hazen Wells Park in Clarksburg. The times will be from 5:30-7:00pm each evening. Additional dates may be added the week of June 20th if needed.

The Sparks 99 run a year round program consisting of Fall and Spring WAGS league play, winter indoor soccer, and several tournaments throughout the year. Steve Knapman who has been coaching in the Maryland and Virginia area for 14 years, coaches the team. He is the owner and founder of Brit-Am Soccer Academy and holds an English Football Association B license and USSF B-License.

U15 Boys Premier - DSC Alliance

We are currently looking for a few field players to complete our 2011/12 roster for our NCSL Club team. In order to be eligible for our U15 team, your birth date must be 8/1/1996 or after. U-13 Boys Premier - DSC Olympiakos

Fast rising DSC Olympiakos u13 Boys (Aug 1998 to Jul 1999) will hold tryouts sometimes in January for Spring 2012 season as we get promoted into the NCSL!! We train and compete during the fall and spring in outdoor soccer and during the winter we play indoors(mid-Jan to mid-March). We are a professionally trained team with dedicated coaches who concentrate on individual skill development, team work and tactics through advanced training methods.

The Olympiakos will hold tryouts in January (indoors).

Players a year younger are welcomed!!

The team hosts practices on Tuesdays/Wednesday and Fridays (location near Germantown & at SoccerPlex on Fridays).

If selected to the team, the player will be expected to play in annual tournaments (i.e., Mid-Atlantic Tournament & August Cup at the MD SoccerPlex). In addition, the team will participate in Winter Indoor session after the winter holidays at the SoccerPlex. Also, possibly attend a day camp during the summer.

Once again, DSC Olympiakos has finished as one of the top teams for the 4th time in a row in its division since the formation of Olympiakos team 2 years ago. Currently, the team practices twice a week, one in Germantown/Gaithersburg area on grass field and at the SoccerPlex's artificial grass.
The team's philosophy is to primarily focus on player learning and the improvement of every player on the team all the while mandating good sportsmanship among players. In addition, the development of individual player(s) is also the most crucial process of building a successful team. The coaching staff led by Christos Nicholas who is a professionally trained coach who concentrates on individual skill development, team and tactics work.

Coach Nicholas currently holds an NSCAA National Diploma (USSF 'C' equivalent), NSCAA Regional (Level 2) Goalkeeping, USSF National 'D' and is a former player of the US National Deaf Soccer Team in 1985, '93, '97, '01, '03, and '05. He also captained his last 3 years for his university soccer team.

Coach Nicholas is now entering his 6th year as the Poolesville HS boys’ varsity soccer coach. His high school coaching career encompasses 2011 Regional Finalist, 2009 Divisional Champions, 2007 Regional Champions, 2008 quarter finalists, 2007 State Finalist (PHS’s first state appearance since 1994), 2007 Regional Champions

U14 Girls Premier - DSC Mustangs

The DSC Mustangs will be holding tryouts for the upcoming season (Fall 2011 – Spring 2012). The team has been playing in division 4 and division 5 in WAGS. Players born on or after August 1st 1997 are invited to come tryout. Tryouts will take place during our practice on Wednesday May 18th, Tuesday May 24th and Wednesday May 25th.
